Two days ago I asked you on my instastories “what do you want to know about our experience with James and Stella walking the Bonpoint Spring-Summer 2019 show, and our family trip to Paris?” and obviously most of you are interested in how it goes behind the scenes at a kids show, and of course, our recommendations for a family trip to Paris. Starting with the latter; going to Paris with two little kids isn’t really that different from going to Paris as a couple. There are little implications, like you’re not going to have dinner past midnight, or drink wine in that little romantic Parisian bistro – well, maybe one glass – and I could argue renting an apartment instead of staying at a hotel, but considering our e
With Stella almost turning 5 – and with that her growing personality and ideas on fashion – it’s getting harder to get them in the looks that I want her in. That’s okay. She needs that space to explore and become who she is. We usually negotiate on who can pick the top, and then the other person picks the bottom, and so on. I think to a certain extent it’s okay to negotiate with your kids, just for the sake of peace and quiet. We all live busy lives, have busy jobs, and want to be at least a little representable when going on date night – plus I like to hold off on the Botox for a little longer – so we negotiate. Don’t confuse this with bribing! This I’m completely against, and sadly see this happening around me a lot.
As always there’re many trends surfacing right before Fashion Month kicks off, and these trends determine more or less the whole street style landscape. For some this might feel like a repetition of styles and looks, and even specific pieces that get just a little too much attention. Some of which we never thought it would stand a chance – the “Ugly sneaker” trend for example – and yet, they are beloved by almost everyone right now. Less in the spotlights right now, simply because it’s still summer and temperatures aren’t going anywhere cold yet, are statement knits. Needless to say, in fashion we are always a little ahead of time, so right now I’m doing my research on the best Fall/Winter 2019 knits, and I have partnered up with Veronica Beard, a brand close to my heart, to style three of their best ones…
To me, a fragrance can take me back a lifetime. Moments that have impacted me deeply, have always had some relation to a fragrance of a person. I remember people by the way their scent. Again, I know this sounds a bit strange, but to me it’s entirely normal. When I was only 6 years old, my favorite and only grandpa passed away. Needless to say, this was a very impactful moment in my little life. However, what saved me from night of tears, was a little pocket square he had been wearing – he was a very dandy grandpa – which still carried the scent of his comforting mens fragrance. My grandma knew and she sewed it into a little “envelope” in which I could put little things and carry it around with me. I brought it with me everywhere I went, and gave me huge comfort.
There are so many amazing beauty products that come in on a weekly basis, but only so many opportunities to share these with you. And with my Instagram being mostly fashion focussed, and Instastories passing by so quick, I felt I should be sharing this new Shiseido Future Solution LX line that I’ve tried last month here too. The four products that I received are the Shiseido Future Solution Lx Total Protective Emulsion Spf 20 Sunscreen, the Shiseido Future Solution Lx Eye & Lip Contour Regenerating Cream, the Shiseido Future Solution Lx Total Radiance Foundation Spf 20, and lastly, the most loved product by you on my Instastories: Shiseido Paperlight Cream Eye Color. Read here why I love this new product line, and why I think you should be trying it too…
Slowly, I’m getting accustomed to the idea that yet another year is coming to an end, and we’re spending another Christmas and New Year’s Eve far away from many of our close friends and family. Generally I’m not too sentimental about it – I mean, life goes on – but as mentioned in an earlier article on Thefashionguitar.com, scents/fragrances tend to bring back memories… They can take me back in time… So in the spirit of the holidays, and since we are talking fragrance today, here’s a little breakdown of a few favorite things I like to do in the days leading up to the holidays! Just because it smells so good…
Of course there’s several courses of treatment for tired skin, because eventually that’s what it is; my skin gets just so “exhausted” during fashion week. I feel and see it very clearly. I get dry, I get weird red spots, pimples suddenly come peeking through, and no matter what I do, the usually very effective steps I take to bring it back to life – such as drinking more water, sleeping an hour or two more, or simply not putting anything on it for a day – are just NOT effective during these days. So, there’s no other way, I HAVE to take more extreme measures. I have to go all in!
If there’s one thing in life I can tell you with 100% certainty, that is that you need at least one red dress in your wardrobe. Why? Because red is good for you; It lifts your spirit, makes you feel fierce, and boosts your confidence. Don’t try to tell me that you and your beautiful blond hair or dark waves don’t go together with that red dress you bought ages ago – and therefore never worn – because I’m sure it’s just a matter of finding “the right shade or red”. Maybe you just didn’t find it yet, and you need some guidance in finding it! So let’s do a little crash course on red dresses and how to wear them, because there’s a burgundy, or a fire-red – or 500 other tones in the middle – for everyone…
When KHAITE launched in 2016, it immediately grew on me and became one of my favorite brands. With their dreamy dresses and tulle tops, it was just in line with my forever obsession over the “runaway-bride” look – aka pretty dresses and sneakers. However, with its core of reimagining of American sportswear, it didn’t come as a surprise that their denim and cashmere sweaters turned out to be a dream, too. Designed in New York City and made in Los Angeles, KHAITE Jeans are the ultimate effortless piece in my everyday dressing. I mean, I’ve mentioned it many times before; I do absolutely want to pick up my kids in a little couture gown and a pair of sneakers, but in reality, that will not happen for a VERY long time, if ever. LOL. So yes, in my day-to-day dressing, a good pair of jeans is a must, and right now, KHAITE serves my denim needs in the best way possible.
In a world of online shopping, endless love for the latest, but a deep desire for comfort, too, I find a gem. Not really hidden to be honest, because it’s been there for a while, yet I never considered it to be my “fashion destination”, until I did… Amazon has been my emergency line, my home appliances heaven, my final shopping destination. Sounds rather dramatic, I know, but when you have a newborn you find yourself in need of many things, one the most ungodly hours of the day.
I buy timeless and classic pieces from the brand because I think that’s what they are best known for; however, I’ve been introduced to their Hilfiger Collection line through this partnership, and I must admit that this put them in a whole different perspective for me. The look I’m wearing in this post, is the absolute everyday sophisticated look I – and you – need in ours wardrobes. It will be perfect for a work meeting, but I can do a school run in it too. Needless to say, the colours are beyond. To me, there is nothing more chic than camel and cream tones for the fall-winter season. In addition to the colors, the richness of the fabric elevates this look to be unbelievably chic!
I want to start with the following – before diving into the world of “Fashion Discovery” because Moda Operandi is, after all, the platform for Fashion Discovery – Moda Operandi is the only online platform that offers straight off the runway pre-ordering. This means that we as customers can make sure to actually get our hands on the most-wanted, most-coveted, and ultra-trendy pieces that everyone wants to wear next season. This is an extremely smart and exciting way to shop, but of course, you’ll need to be confident about what’s going to be “hot” next season, and above all, you’ll need to have the patience for it to arrive, because it’s not a next-day delivery situation. Your next season’s person will get to you, but only just before the new collections hit the stores…
